ARLINGTON, Texas -- The Texas Rangers have recalled left-hander Alex Claudio from Triple-A Round Rock and optioned struggling reliever Tanner Scheppers to their top minor league affiliate.

Scheppers had an 11.25 ERA in five appearances after being activated from the 15-day disabled list on April 17, allowing five runs and six hits with four walks in four innings.
