Pitcher Gerson Garabito and infielder Jonathan Ornelas have been optioned to AAA Round Rock, the team announced today. In addition, pitcher Codi Heuer, in camp on as a non-roster invitee, has been assigned to the minor league camp.
We are two weeks out from Opening Day and the number of players in the major league camp continues to shrink, though there are still no real surprises as far as cuts go. Garabito seemed destined to be in AAA as depth unless something went seriously wrong with pitching staff injuries this spring, and Ornelas had no path to a major league roster spot absent a bunch of injuries.
