Almost a week into games, the best thing that can be said about our projected Rangers' opening day roster is this: Nothing has changed.
Then again, a lot of these guys haven't even appeared in a game yet.
Entering Wednesday, only one member of the expected starting rotation has appeared. Only three likely bullpen pitchers have pitched. The starting middle infield had yet to get on the field. Put it all together, and 10 of the 25 players we are projecting on the roster had not yet appeared. I think that's 40 percent.
It just underscores the idea that perhaps spring training is too long and that the Rangers are going to be cautious with the veterans on this roster, particularly the number of starting pitchers returning from Tommy John surgery.
