Rangers offense falters in loss to Orioles as over-eager Adrian Beltre falls just short of 3,000 hits

ARLINGTON -- Adrian Beltre must wait one more day to make history.

Beltre had one single in four at-bats during a 4-0 loss to Baltimore on Saturday night at Globe Life Park. He needs one more hit to become the 31st player in history with 3,000 career hits.

The moment may have disrupted the normally stoic Beltre. With family and numerous friends in attendance, he seemed over-eager at the plate. Beltre saw only nine pitches overall.

Beltre pulled to the left side in every at-bat. The single came on a hard-hit grounder to start the fourth inning.
