The Rangers are considering a roster scenario in which Joey Gallo would not only be the starting left fielder, but also the backup center fielder.
“I’m 100 percent comfortable with it,” manager Chris Woodward said of using Gallo in center. “I’ve told him that if something happened, he could wind up being the everyday guy. He swears he’s good enough to do it. I’ve watched him move around athletically out there and run down balls. I’ve seen the numbers we had on him last year out there. They are good.”
The Rangers are uncertain about how to backup likely starter Delino DeShields.
