The Braves on Wednesday traded a pair of pitchers -- right-handed starter Lucas Harrell and lefty reliever Dario Alvarez -- to the Rangers for infield prospect Travis Demeritte ahead of Monday's non-waiver Trade Deadline.
Harrell, 31, is 2-2 with a 3.38 ERA in 29 1/3 innings over five starts with the Braves, with whom he signed a Minor League contract in May. He spent last season in Korea after failing to make a big league roster, then was signed and released by the Tigers this spring before settling in Atlanta.
On Tuesday, Harrell turned in six scoreless innings and gave up just four hits while fanning four and walking three in a 2-0 Braves win in Minnesota.
