SEATTLE -- Max Scherzer could rejoin the Texas Rangers' rotation if all goes well with his final rehab start in the minors, manager Bruce Bochy said Saturday.

Scherzer started Saturday night for Triple-A Round Rock, throwing 79 pitches in 4u2154 innings and allowing three runs on four hits and two walks. He struck out eight.

Before the start, Bochy said the hope was that it would be Scherzer's last stint in the minors.

Scherzer made his second rehab start for Round Rock last Sunday and retired 12 of 14 batters.
