Texas Rangers rookie manager Chris Woodward will have a pitching coach making his major-league debut in 2019.
The Rangers on Friday unveiled Julio Rangel as their pitching coach. Rangel, 43, has never worked at the major-league level.
Rangel served as San Francisco's minor-league pitching coordinator in 2018. He spent 11 years in the Cleveland organization before that. His duties included Lower Level Pitching Coordinator (2007-15), Latin America Player Cultural/Baseball Mental Skills Coordinator (2007-10).
As assistant field coordinator, Rangel implemented player-development initiatives at Cleveland's academy in the Dominican Republic. He also oversaw day-to-day operations of the Academy.
