The Texas Rangers have hired Dave Bush as their “Director of Pitching Strategy,” it has been announced today. Bush spent the previous four seasons as the pitching coach for the Boston Red Sox.
Bush, 44, spent parts of nine seasons in the majors, primarily with the Milwaukee Brewers. The Brewers’ pitching coach for several of those seasons was Mike Maddux, who is currently the Rangers’ pitching coach. Maddux was also the Rangers’ pitching coach when the Rangers signed Bush to a minor league deal prior to the 2011 season. Bush spent the first few months of the 2011 season as the Rangers long reliever before being released in July, 2011.
