The Texas Rangers have hired Josh Bonifay as the team’s new farm director, per multiple reports. Bonifay was with the Philadelphia Phillies as their farm director from the end of the 2018 season through this season, but this August was informed he would not return in 2022 in that role, but instead was offered a job as a scout.
Bonifay, the son of former Pittsburgh Pirates g.m. Cam Bonifay, was with the Astros organization for a number of years before coming to Texas in 2017 as the major league field coordinator. He then returned to Astros as hitting coordinator for the 2018 season before joining the Phillies.
