If the Texas Rangers want Houston bench coach Joe Espada as their next manager, they may have to out-maneuver at least one other team.
According to Sportsnet.ca, Espada was in Toronto on Monday to interview with the Blue Jays for their managerial opening. The Jays have also spoken with Chicago Cubs bench coach Brandon Hyde and Tampa Bay major-league fielder coordinator Rocco Baldelli. Both have interviewed with the Rangers.
The Rangers had a telephone conversation with Espada during Houston's playoff run. It is not known if Espada has had a face-to-face meeting with the Rangers since the Astros were eliminated on Thursday.
