Rangers designate Lohse for assignment

ARLINGTON -- The Rangers have designated right-hander Kyle Lohse for assignment in order to make room on the roster for Tuesday night's starter Nick Martinez, who was recalled from Triple-A Round Rock.

Lohse, 37, was signed by the Rangers to a Minor League deal on May 14, and he was called up on July 9, when injuries hit the starting rotation. In two starts, he was 0-2 with a 12.54 ERA, allowing 15 hits in 9 1/3 innings.

Martinez will be making his third stint with the Rangers this year. He's 1-2 with a 6.
