Rangers call up Colon to start tonight

ARLINGTON -The Texas Rangers today announced the following transactions:

--Selected the contract of RHP Bartolo Colon (#40) from Triple-A Round Rock.

--Optioned RHP Nick Gardewine to Round Rock to make room for Colon on the 25-man roster.

--Transferred RHP Ricardo Rodriguez from the 10-day to the 60-day disabled list to make room for Colon on the 40-man roster.

--Announced that 1B Tommy Joseph, who cleared waivers on Saturday, has accepted an outright assignment to Double-A Frisco.

Colon will start for the Rangers on Monday night at Oakland at the age of 44 years, 313 days, the oldest Major League player in 2018 and the second oldest player to ever appear in a game for Texas to Nolan Ryan (46 years, 234 days in final career start on Sept.
