The Texas Rangers shut out the Kansas City Royals 4-0 on Friday, thanks to Chi Chi Gonzalez who became the first Rangers pitcher to throw a shutout within his first two career games since Len Barker in 1976.
Gonzalez has now started his career with 14 and 2/3 scoreless innings and according to the Elias Sports Bureau, that’s the longest scoreless streak to begin a career by any pitcher, be it starter or a reliever, in Rangers history.
