Heading into today, the Rangers at TBD scheduled to start both Monday’s and Wednesday’s game against the Pittsburgh Pirates. We are now down to just one TBD starter for this series, however, as Dane Dunning has been announced as tonight’s starting pitcher.
My guess is that they were holding off on the announcement in case Dunning was needed out of the bullpen in yesterday’s game. Dunning will be starting on regular rest, having started against the Red Sox on August 14, when he allowed four runs in five innings. Prior to that, Dunning hadn’t started since June 16, having worked out of the bullpen went not on the injured list.
