The Rangers agreed to terms with Cuban infielder Andy Ibanez on an international free-agent contract Tuesday.
Ibanez, 22, was the youngest member of the Cuban National Team in the 2013 World Baseball Classic. He is known for his disciplined plate approach and gap-to-gap line-drive power. Ibanez, likely a second baseman, is also a capable fielder and has basestealing ability.
Ibanez hit .300 with four home runs in 2012 for Isla de la Juventud. In 2013, he hit .267 with a .377 on-base percentage.
