Matt Blood, the Texas Rangers' new director of player development, has added his first new look to the minor-league system.
Eric Gagne, a dominant reliever a decade ago, will serve as bullpen coach with Triple-A Nashville this season. Gagne returned to the game last summer as a pitching coach with the Rangers' affiliate in the rookie-level Arizona League.
This is believed to be the first time a Rangers affiliate has had a designated bullpen coach. Of the top four affiliates this season, only Nashville will have a bullpen coach.
Gagne, 43, had 152 saves with the Los Angeles Dodgers from 2002-04.
