The Texas Rangers have purchased the contracts of infielder Ezequiel Duran and pitchers Ricky Vanasco and Ronny Henriquez, the team announced today. In addition, the team announced that pitchers Edwar Colina and Kyle Cody had cleared waivers and been assigned outright to AAA Round Rock. With these moves, the Rangers’ 40 man roster stands at 37.
Today was the deadline for adding players to protect them from the Rule 5 Draft. Duran, acquired from the Yankees in the Joey Gallo trade, and Vanasco, who has just returned from Tommy John surgery, were viewed as locks to be protected.
