KANSAS CITY -- The Rangers have designated pitcher Cesar Ramos for assignment to make room for left-handed reliever Jake Diekman, who was activated off the disabled list.
Diekman had been sidelined since July 5 with a laceration on his left index finger. He threw a 30-pitch bullpen session on Wednesday in Anaheim and said he was ready to go.
At the time of the injury, Diekman had 39 appearances, which was tied for the seventh most in the American League. But he didn't see the time off as beneficial.
"I don't think so," Diekman said.
