The Texas Rangers have traded for catcher Carson Kelly from the Detroit Tigers, per Ken Rosenthal on Twitter. No word yet on who would be going back.
Kelly, 30, was originally a second round draft pick of the St. Louis Cardinals, and was traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks as part of the Paul Goldschmidt trade. Arizona released him last August, and he signed with the Tigers a couple of days later.
Kelly slashed .206/.278/.287 between Arizona and Detroit last year, but improved this year, slashing ,242/.327/.393 in 202 plate appearances.
