The Texas Rangers are acquiring infielder Jake Burger from the Miami Marlins in exchange for minor league infielders Maximo Acosta and Echedry Vargas and pitcher Brayan Mendoza.
Nothing like waking up to news of a trade, though I have to say, I’m kind of underwhelmed by this deal. Burger, who turns 29 in April, was the 11th overall pick in the 2017 Draft out of Missouri State by the Chicago White Sox. He missed all of the 2018 season due to a ruptured Achilles tendon and all of the 2019 season due to a bruised heel, and didn’t play in 2020 due to the COVID pandemic canceling the minor league seasons.
