Both Robinson and Profar can play every position on the field except pitcher and catcher. If there is an advantage, Robinson gives the Rangers more speed off the bench for pinch-running.
"Profar needs to continue to play every day, that's the biggest thing," manager Jeff Banister said.
Robinson gives the Rangers a four-man bench, along with utility infielder Pete Kozma and backup catcher Robinson Chirinos. Joey Gallo was also on the bench for the second straight game with a sore left hamstring.
The Rangers are currently going with a seven-man bullpen with the All-Star break coming up on Monday.
