Martin Perez's acknowledgement that he slaughtered - and ate - a bull that attacked him on his family ranch in Venezuela last year has drawn a rebuke from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA).
In a press release titled "Perez slammed for vengeful killing of bull," the advocacy group urged him to go vegan and announced it had sent him a package of vegan treats.
"We hope that upon reflection, you'll feel that making a show of eating him was not only a cruel thing to do but also an unjustifiable, vengeful act that makes you look small," wrote PETA.
