MLB Rumors: The San Diego Padres have interviewed Jayce Tingler, the Texas Rangers Player Development Field Coordinator, for their vacant managerial job, according to Scott Miller on Twitter. Tingler has been with the Rangers in a variety of coaching, managerial and front office roles since 2008, and A.J. Preller, the Padres’ general manager, would be familiar with Tingler from their time together here in Texas.
Tingler, 37, interviewed for the Rangers’ manager job last year, a gig that ultimately went to Chris Woodward. Tingler has been part of Woodward’s staff this season after spending the previous two season as an assistant general manager, though he did finish the 2018 season as Don Wakamatsu’s bench coach after Jeff Banister was fired.
