Texas Rangers pitcher Owen White is having Tommy John surgery today, per the beat guys on Twitter. White, 19, is a righthanded pitcher who was the Rangers’ 2nd round pick in the 2018 draft.
White, along with Cole Winn and Mason Englert, was part of the Rangers’ “de-load” process that had prep pitchers taken in the 2018 draft work on strengthening themselves and adjusting to life as a professional pitcher, rather than pitching in game action during the summer post-draft. White and Englert have now both undergone Tommy John surgery this spring, while Winn is expected to debut next month when short-season ball resumes.
