Former Texas Rangers Mitch Moreland and Martin Perez are free agents, after each player had their options for 2021 declined over the weekend.
Both Moreland, a first baseman, and Perez, a lefthanded starting pitcher, signed one year deals for the 2020 season with team options for 2021 with the Boston Red Sox after the 2019 season. Perez received $6 million in 2020, with a $6.25 million team option and $500,000 buyout for 2021, while Moreland got $2.5 million for 2020 with a $3 million team option for 2021 with a $500,000 buyout.
