In 2005, Adrian Beltre and Dan Haren joined new teams. Beltre signed with Seattle as a free agent. St. Louis traded Haren to Oakland, which put him into the rotation.
Beltre and Haren met in their new duds for the first time on April 29. Beltre lined a double off Haren, and a one-sided relationship was underway.
"He owned me for about 10 years after that," Haren said.
On his way to 3,000 hits, Beltre has had his most success against Haren. Beltre, who had 2,996 hits entering Friday's game against Baltimore, has more hits against Haren (24 in 58 at-bats) than any other pitcher.
