ARLINGTON - The Rangers moved on from former manager Jeff Banister months ago. They have their man, Chris Woodward, to direct a rebuilding program.
On Tuesday, Banister received all the reasons he needed to move on from the Rangers and find his next challenge.
Banister showed up at Globe Life Park with his old club (Pittsburgh) in the new role of special assistant, baseball operations. It was nothing more special than a former manager renewing acquaintances.
The sting that arose when general manage Jon Daniels fired Banister with 10 games remaining last season is gone, Banister said.
