SEATTLE - Pick a metric, any metric, and you will get the same verdict: The Rangers are getting nothing of tangible value from the catching duo of Jeff Mathis and Isiah Kiner-Falefa.
To be honest, it's about what they expected.
And it's not a disappointment.
If there is one spot on the roster where the value is intrinsic rather than in plain sight, it is at catcher, manager Chris Woodward said Tuesday. The Rangers are trying to build a catcher out of an infielder in Kiner-Falefa and they are trying to lay a base upon which the pitching staff can grow.
