MLB Rumor Central: Rangers, Rougned Odor break off contract talks

Through 82 games played this season, Texas Rangers second baseman Rougned Odor already has as many home runs (16) as he did all of last year and is on pace to have the best campaign of his young career.

So will Odor be rewarded with a new contract in the near future? According to Jon Heyman of Today's Kuckleball, the answer is no.

The 22-year-old and the Rangers had been in discussions on an extension, but talks broke off after Texas offered Odor a similar contract to the one Pittsburgh Pirates right fielder Gregory Polanco signed back in April ($35 million over six years, plus two club option years).
