The Texas Rangers have a wealth of young players that are of interest to other teams, but infielder Joey Gallo may not be available in any deal.
Jon Heyman at Today's Knuckleball reports the Rangers “have big prospects to trade,” but gets the impression that Gallo “isn’t very touchable.”
The 22-year-old Gallo is playing third base at Triple-A Round Rock, where he is hitting .249/.385/.551 with 15 homers. The 2012 first-round draft pick hit .204 with six homers in a 36-game stint with the Rangers last season.
A report out of Texas had Gallo going to the New York Yankees this week in a deal involving reliever Andrew Miller, but ESPN's Wallace Matthews called the report "totally false.
