Major league baseball is now recommending that teams put netting up along the stands within 70 feet of home plate
Major league baseball has issued a new set of fan safety recommendations, and as part of that, is recommending to teams that safety netting be put in place along the foul lines for at least 70 feet beyond home plate.
This is in the aftermath of several high-profile incidents the past summer where fans where struck by foul balls that went into the stands. There was a good deal of public discussion about implementing more netting, and this change was anticipated to be coming this offseason.
