MLB Draft Day Two Discussion Thread

Day One of the 2021 MLB Draft is done, with the Texas Rangers nabbing Vanderbilt righthanded pitcher Jack Leiter with the second overall pick.

Today will be round two through ten of the draft, beginning at noon Central time. There will be less time between picks than there was yesterday in the first round, and so things should move fairly quickly.

As a reminder, players taken in the first ten rounds must be signed, or else the drafting team loses the slot bonus money associated with that pick. Since teams can allocate their available slot bonus money however they wish, teams often will use picks in the six through ten range on players they know that they can sign for significantly below slot, so that they can apply that money to other players.
