Mike Trout, star outfielder with the Anaheim Angels, will miss 6-8 weeks to due a right calf strain, it was announced today. Trout suffered the injury running the bases Monday night.
Trout is off to a fantastic start, slashing .333/.466/.624 so far this season. The Angels, however, are not off to a fantastic start — despite being expected to be contenders this year, Anaheim is just a half-game ahead of the Rangers in the American League West, sporting an 18-22 record. While Trout, Jared Walsh and Shohei Ohtani are hitting quite well, Justin Upton has struggled, Albert Pujols was bad up until the point he was released, Anthony Rendon has missed time, and the pitching staff has the worst ERA in the American League.
