ARLINGTON -- The Rangers have called up third baseman Will Middlebrooks from Triple-A Round Rock to help fill in for Adrian Beltre, who is sidelined with a strained left hamstring.
Beltre underwent an MRI on Friday, and the Rangers are awaiting the final results, but it is not expected to be good. Texas is bracing for the possibility that Beltre could be sidelined for the remainder of the regular season.
The Rangers have also called up pitcher Paolo Espino and catcher A.J. Jimenez. In addition, left-handed reliever Jake Diekman has been activated off the 60-day disabled list and added to the bullpen.
