Through April, Mazara ranked among overall AL leaders in average (fifth) and on-base percentage (10th) while posting the highest on-base percentage among rookies. He also finished second among AL rookies in average, hits and runs. His .852 OPS in April is the highest by a qualifying Rangers rookie in the season's first month.
Mazara is the fifth Rangers rookie to win the league's Rookie of the Month Award in the past five seasons, joining Yu Darvish (April 2012), Justin Grimm (April 2013), Martin Perez (August 2013) and Delino DeShields (May 2015).
