Max Scherzer will be starting for the Texas Rangers against the Kansas City Royals on Sunday, June 22, 2024, the team announced today. Scherzer, who has been on the injured list season the beginning of the year, will be making his season debut.
Scherzer was originally thought to possibly be back as soon as mid-May, but a nerve issue slowed things, and he was taken off his early rehab assignment until that could be gotten under control. While Scherzer is currently on the 60 day injured list, and thus will need to be added to the 40 man roster as well as the 26 man roster when he is activated, there is currently one open spot on the 40 man roster.
