The Rangers placed right-handed pitcher Chris Martin on the 10-day disabled list with right forearm irritation on Wednesday. The move is retroactive to Tuesday. To take his place on the active roster, the team recalled right-hander Nick Gardewine from Triple-A Round Rock prior to its game in Cleveland against the Indians.
Martin has a 0-1 record with a 5.14 ERA in 16 relief appearances this season. He ranks among American League leaders in games (16) and holds (6). Martin was charged with a blown save in his last appearance on Monday at Cleveland, which he exited with right forearm cramping.
