Texas Rangers prospect Tyler Phillips has been one of the breakout minor leaguers for the Rangers this year. The 20 year old righthander, a 16th round pick in the 2015 draft, has put up a 3.27 ERA in 88 innings this season for the low-A Hickory Crawdads, with a remarkable 85:10 K:BB ratio, and just 3 home runs allowed. He’s been someone who there’s been buzz about for a while, and we have been seeing him finally take that step forward many have been waiting for since he was drafted.
Mark Parker, who covers the Hickory Crawdads, has a lengthy interview up with Phillips at his blog.
