ARLINGTON -- Rangers manager Chris Woodward is willing to go against popular sentiment.
Woodward likes the home run as much as anyone. In a game enamored with the long ball, Woodward still sees a place for scoring through attention to the details.
"If we're going to be a championship team, a great team, we have to be great in big moments," Woodward said on Friday before the opener of a series against Oakland at Globe Life Park. "Being great doesn't always mean hitting a grand slam."
A well-placed out can do the job, too. Through the small sample of 12 games, the Rangers were struggling in the vital area of producing with a runner at third and fewer than two outs.
