Lewis' brilliant outing goes unrewarded

ARLINGTON -- Colby Lewis was outstanding for six scoreless innings. The offense delivered two home runs in a game for only the fourth time in 22 games, and the six extra-base hits were a season high.

All those wonderful things by the Rangers were wasted when the Athletics scored seven runs in the eighth inning of a 7-5 stunner on Friday night. The seven runs came against relievers Shawn Tolleson, Roman Mendez and Neftali Feliz, and the Rangers have now lost four in a row.

It was the first time in 32 years that the Rangers took a shutout into the eighth and then gave up seven runs in an inning.
