Former Texas Ranger outfielder Leonys Martin has signed a two year extension with the Chiba Lotte Marines of the Japanese League, per reports.
Martin, who turns 33 next year, joined Chiba Lotte in 2019 after being released by the Cleveland Indians, and returned to the Marines for 2020. Leonys has turned into a power hitter in the JPL, slashing .233/.368/.488 with 39 home runs in 676 plate appearances in the JPL the past two seasons. His 25 home runs this year was good for fourth in the JPL.
Leonys, of course, signed with the Rangers after defecting from Cuba.
