OAKLAND, Calif. - The Rangers on Tuesday offered a sneak peek into what a no-Adrian Beltre lineup of the future will look like.
Nomar Mazara hit cleanup, with Beltre moved down to fifth for the game against Oakland at The Coliseum. It marked only the third time in the last seven seasons that Beltre did not hit third or fourth.
The move was more about Mazara and what he offers the club moving forward.
"It's the transition of Nomar,'' manager Jeff Banister said. "Getting Nomar in that four hole and get him comfortable there.''
Mazara had some familiarity with the spot and the responsibility it brings.
