Lance Lynn, long-time major league pitcher who had a couple of great seasons with the Texas Rangers in 2019 and 2020, has announced his retirement, per multiple reports. The news apparently came via him making the announcement on his wife’s podcast.
Lynn was a first round pick of the St. Louis Cardinals in 2008 out of the University of Mississippi, and spent the beginning and end of his career with the Cards, pitching for them from 2011-17 and in 2024. He was a durable innings-eater for the Cards, throwing at least 175 innings and appearing in at least 31 games in every season from 2012-17 except for 2016, when he missed the entire year due to Tommy John surgery.
