Pitcher Kumar Rocker is being promoted from AAA Round Rock to the major leagues on Thursday to start against the Seattle Mariners, it was announced today.
As recently as this past weekend, Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said that Rocker, who has been electric in the minors since his return from Tommy John surgery earlier this year, would not pitch in the major leagues this year. Apparently, the organization has changed their minds.
Rocker, a righthander who turns 25 in November, had three appearances in the Arizona Complex League in July to shake off the rust in his return from TJS, which he underwent in May, 2023.
