Texas Rangers pitcher Corey Kluber will miss at least four weeks with a grade two tear of the teres major muscle, it was announced. Kluber, who left his start yesterday due to shoulder tightness, will not be able to return as a starting pitcher even in a best case scenario — if he is able to return, he will work out of the bullpen.
This is a blow to the Rangers, whose starting rotation was expected to be the team’s strength. The Rangers acquired Kluber in an offseason deal that sent Emmanuel Clase and Delino DeShields to Cleveland, and while the price was seen as light, Kluber had significant question marks surrounding him after missing most of last season with a broken arm and with an abdominal issue.
