Ketel Marte, Arizona D-Backs agree on extension

Ketel Marte and the Arizona Diamondbacks have reportedly agreed to terms on a contract extension that runs through 2031, per reports that came out yesterday.

This was the third extension to be reported to have been reached yesterday, with Jackson Merrill and Kristian Campbell deals have been reported earlier in the day. This is also the third multi-year extension that the D-Backs and Marte have reached during Marte’s career, with a five year deal being struck in 2018 and then another five year deal being reached in 2022.

Marte’s existing deal was set to pay him $16 million this year and next year, $14 million in 2027, and then either $13 million via a club option in 2028 or $3 million if the option was bought out.
