Jose Trevino done for the season after shoulder surgery

Texas Rangers catcher Jose Trevino underwent surgery on his left (non-throwing) arm today, and will miss the rest of the season.

Trevino, 25, made his major league debut this season and collected his first major league hit, but has spent most of the year with AA Frisco. The 2014 sixth rounder has developed a reputation for being a top notch defendear and game caller behind the plate, but still has work to do with the bat to stick in the majors.

Trevino was expected to get called back up when rosters expanded in September, and still could end up being called up and put on the major league 60 day disabled list, should the Rangers feel they need a 40 man roster spot.
