Jordan Zimmerman, former pitcher for the Washington Nationals and the Detroit Tigers who has been with the Milwaukee Brewers this season, announced his retirement.
Zimmerman, a righthander who turns 35 later this month, was a second round pick of the Washington Nationals in 2007. He had a solid run with the Nationals as a #2/#3 starter from 2011-15, accumulating 18.9 bWAR over that period, finishing 5th in the Cy Young balloting one year and 7th in another, and making the All Star team twice.
After the 2015 season he signed a 5 year, $110 million deal with the Detroit Tigers, but wasn’t able to replicate the success he had with the Nationals, registering just 0.
