Jordan Romano, the Rule 5 pick from the Toronto Blue Jays who the Texas Rangers acquired early in the offseason, has cleared waivers and been returned to the Jays, it has been announced. As a Rule 5 pick, Romano had to stay on the major league roster all season, or clear waivers and be offered back to Toronto.
Romano, a righthanded reliever, had been vying for a spot in the bullpen, but while the Rangers organization had praise for him, they ultimately decided he wasn’t far enough along to keep in the majors all year.
